The Cordillera News Agency (CNA) invites you to celebrate Ibaloi culture this coming December in Tam-awan village.
The Ibaloi Cultural and Ecological Sanctuary will be opened to the public with a festival of cultural events ranging from photo and art exhibit, outdoor installation to the cañao celebration.
The cultural and ecological sanctuary is an eight- hectare area, situated in Tam-awan, Pinsao Proper, one of the remaining forests in Baguio City. This private forest has been enhanced and maintained by members of Piraso Camdas family and other Ibaloi families in the area over the last 100 years.
The sanctuary is an ideal site to get a glimpse of old Baguio. Visitors can learn, understand and appreciate aspects of the Ibaloi Culture and methods in managing a forest and caring for the environment.
Ecological tours will be conducted on a regular basis and guides will take visitors around the area where there will be exhibits on the aspects of Ibaloi and culture and environment.
The grand launching is on December 12 at 5pm with a cañao celebration and opening of an art exhibit.
Baguio artists who are interested to join the exhibit are encouraged to focus on Ibalois (contemporary or present). The biggest size of artwork should be at a maximum of 32”x48” of any medium. A maximum of two artworks per artist will be accepted.
Deadline of submission is on or before December 5,2009 at 9 am at the Tam-awan village. Submit your artwork to any staff of the village. Artworks which will be screened by the committee will be exhibited.
