LA TRINIDAD, Benguet-- Gov. Nestor Fongwan has recommended that drug peddling be monitored while Sr. Supt. Wilben Mayor, Benguet provincial police director recommended regulation of alcohol dispensing establishments in this capital town.
The recommendations were made during the meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council.
Fogwan said, there are reports reaching his office that drug peddling is rampant specially at the San Jose High School and Benguet National Highschool.
He advised the Department of Education to be more vigilant in illegal activities happening in the different high schools in the municipality.
The security guards and parents must be on alert, he stressed.
He likewise recommended that the authorities specially the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency deploy personnel to monitor reported drug related activities in the schools mentioned.
Meanwhile, both Fongwan and Mayor have recommended that the legislative branches of government enact stricter ordinances and regulations with regards to videoke bars operating near campuses.
It is reported that videoke bars usually allow minors to drink alcohol specially when authorities are not present.--larry madarang
