LA TRINIDAD, Benguet-- The Benguet Board has settled its committee chairmanships during their first regular session held on July 5, 2010.
But unlike the Baguio City Councilors where the senior councilors or where party politics takes a major role in selection of committee chairmanships, the Sanguniang Panlalawigan here settled it peacefully amongst themselves. All the members of the provincial board were given a chance to select committees they would like to head; this was done by writing on a piece of paper their preferred committee. In case of a tie, one of the board members would then decline the position and automatically becomes a member of the committee. The following are the committees formed during the session with their respective heads: Education, Finance and Appropriations, Juan Nazaro Jr.; Environment and Mining, Labor and Employment, Benjamin Saguid; Agriculture, Land Use and Housing, Apolinario Camsol; Health and Sanitation, Social Service, Florence Tingbaoen; Cooperatives and Civil Society, Peace and Order, Nardo Cayat; Human Rights, Public Works and Infrastructure, Rogelio Leon; Indigenous Peoples and Legal Matters, Johnny Waguis; Personnel Administration, Ways and Means, Concepcion Balao; and Public Utilities, Tourism and Culture Johnny Waclin. –larry madarang
