The Baguio City Police Office is warning all the citizens of Baguio especially the females and elderly to be cautious about the Budol Budol Gang who are out to victimize again. A case of ESTAFA (Swindling) transpired on November 11, 2009 at about 3:00 PM at Mary Immaculate School located at General Luna Rd, Baguio City on a complaint filed by RODELYN CLEMENTE Y ABUAN, 26 years old, married, a student of University of the Cordilleras, a native of Burgos, La union and presently residing at Bakakeng Norte, Baguio City.

She narrated that when she was walking with her seven year old son at the above mentioned place, they met three female persons who asked for directions going to the terminal bound for BGHMC because they will bring their pregnant companion to the doctor to have an abortion who was impregnated by a married man. They also asked if they will pass by another hospital along the way. The complainant replied that they will pass by Notre Dame Hospital along Gen. Luna Road a few meters away from where they were. One of the suspects said that the doctor might question them about the alleged intention to abort.
After the conversation, the suspects asked the victim to accompany them to a pawnshop because when the suspects tried to pawn their jewelry, the pawnshop did not accept it because they had no ID and showed their bag containing jewelries. Upon seeing the said items, the victim decided to accompany them not knowing where to go as if she was being hypnotized. When they reached Casa Vallejo, Upper Session Rd, the suspects asked the victim to be the one who will bring the pieces of rings to the pawnshop and asked her to leave her cellphone, two rings and cash amounting to P3,500.00 as collateral while waiting for her afterwhich they agreed that they will return these to her when she comes back with the money.
She proceeded to a pawnshop located inside Porta Vaga only to find out that the items were fake. She immediately returned to Casa Vallejo where the suspects were suppose to be waiting for her but they have already gone carting away her cash and belongings.
The victim immediately went to Station 7, BCPO to file a complaint. Two of the suspects were positively identified by the victim in the police mug file as SARAH PARAGAS y MARIGA, MARILOU BONIFACIO y BALAYO and a “John Doe” as the same persons operating in the city using the same modus operandi. On November 19, 2009 at about 5:00 PM, a case was filed against the identified suspects at the City Prosecutor’s Office under IS No. 09-02458.
Just recently, another case of Abduction and robbery transpired on November 18, 2009 on the complaint of one MRS RUSHELLE ABUAN SAGRADO, 23 years old, food stall owner and resident of Purok 7, Bakakeng Norte, Baguio City.
Investigation disclosed that while the victim was walking alone at the overpass along Harrison Rd. between 2:00-3:00 PM of said date, one female person suddenly came near the victim and held her right breast and insisted that she was “Ate Rhoda”. She denied it but the suspect continued following her still holding her right breast. She suddenly felt a man holding a pointed object at her back and told her not to move while going down the overpass. Two female and two male persons met them and they flagged down a taxi cab but since they cannot be accommodated, they rode a Trancoville bound jitney instead. When the jitney stopped, one of the male suspects directed the victim to call her husband in Singapore.
The victim said her husband is not in Singapore. One of the female suspects accused her that they were the ones who took their things last week. The victim insisted that it was not her. They told her to give them her money. Because of fear, she gave them her cash amounting to P14,000.00. When the jitney moved on, one of their male companions handed her a black bag to hold. Upon reaching Victory Liner Bus terminal, they rode the bus and the victim heard one of the suspects talking to a “Bos Edgar” on the cellular phone who is allegedly in Norzagaray. Upon reaching the stopover in Sison, Pangasinan, they still insisted that she was RHODA but she vehemently denied it. She was thinking that the Rhoda they are telling might be the co-parent of her former employer whose child is the classmate of Rhoda’s son, Rod or they might have mistaken her for her elder sister Rhoda Clemente, whose husband is working in Singapore. One of their male companions alighted from the bus when they reached Urdaneta, Pangasinan and a male and female companion in Gerona, Tarlac. Upon reaching Siesta Bus Terminal in Tarlac, Tarlac, the female suspect took the black bag from her and told her to go down from the bus. She warned her not to report the incident to the police. She noticed a Pajero with marking “for Registration” parked at the said terminal where the suspects rode. She immediately texted her husband and called her brother through pay phone. After waiting for sometime, policemen came to her aid. The victim positively identified SARAH MARIGA PARAGAS in a mug file as one of the perpetrators. A case of was filed at the City Prosecutor’s Office with IS No. 09-02457.
Any information leading to the arrest of the said suspects will be much appreciated by the victims and the Baguio Police. The public is encouraged to take extra care and must not trust strangers. If possible, find a companion when holding a big amount of cash. Report immediately to the police in case of doubt. Intense follow-up operation is being conducted to catch these perpetrators and put them behind bars. Their arrest will help police personnel in dismantling this group and spare other would-be victims.
